Advocacy and why I fight...

I can not express my frustration enough with WIX and this BLOG App. They tried to use AI to write for me and I poo poo'd it. Ever since, it's been a mystery to me to navigate the site here, where I create my own content. I let them try and they failed. Half fluff and half false information it's obvious to me that AI is bullshit. However, it is prevalent and messing with this editor as I type. I digress...

AI did create this image which I have begun using for limited gig adverts. I find it is helpful in repairing and enhancing photographic images and recommend it highly for this App. There are certain applications that add value, but the true horror is when companies use it to strip away workers salaries and replace them with robotic code that enhances their bottom line.

Here's the dig. If it saves money on the working class, what's to keep AI out of the Board Room and C level positions to really save some bucks? Don't hold your breath...

I digress.. a lot these days. As a member of Grammy I have and still do take part in the Advocacy Program. Not that I think here in California it has much efficacy. At the least it gives us a voice in trying to resist this AI onslaught in hopes that we may be able to enhance our legal standing and rights thru legislative and political levers of power and affect change, illuminating the issues for working musicians and our art, our publishing and revenue streams which today trickle down on our impetus to create art in general. As if "Streaming" and the last technological disruption created by "Free Music" advocates wasn't bad enough, here we go again. AI mimicking, stealing artists voices and instrumental genius, melodies and arrangements to create music by machine is frightening and has to be quiesced now before it becomes systemic. Again, don't hold your breath. We're up against BIG BROTHER and BIG BUSINESS in this fight. Grammy Advocacy Day this year is October 8 2026.

So yeah, I'm 76 years old, my hearing aids are paid extra for enhancing my ability to still play live music and AI is involved so, there are good uses for this technology and yet, here we are, as if the internet and Social Media have not become a cesspool of adverse and corrupt data scraping enterprises feeding off of human endorphins and our obsession with our obsessions! I am guilty as charged. I guess the question now is.... WHAT DO YOU THINK? I won't hold my breath..
