I don't know about you, but I've been here before. Deja vu all over again. Somehow, I survived, raised a family, got though it and if you know what I'm talking about, we are not alone!! I've experienced rock bottom, homelessness, failure. I've experienced rock star success too and just about every type of emotion in between. I know what that's like!! Reinventing ourselves is a survival mechanism and we all go through this exercise multiple times in our lives as we evolve. Everytime we make a bad decision, choose a bad partner or get in trouble by making risky decisions and have to start over. Some of us, more than others!
Currently, we are all having to deal with a Pandemic. That's no our fault, but we should have seen it coming. It's pretty obvious to me, that just like the previous "W" years of Republican rule ended in a global financial meltdown, here we go again. It wasn't enough that Reagan gave US "Iran Contra", "Star Wars", and "Trickle Down", here we are in 2020 with historical levels of unemployment and an idiot savant at the helm. We don't stand much of a chance with the patients running the asylum if you catch my drift. I don't know about you, but watching main street get thrown under the bus again by GOP criminal fiscal policy makers is not what I had planned for my golden years. It's really unfair to my grandchildren and their future! Look at our healthcare system under siege, look around at our crumbling infrastructure and stunning red state, GOP incompetence masquerading as "Leadership"! When will we learn? Back to the pandemic, I believe that it's a direct result of our lack of respect of our planet. We're suffocating our habitat with poisons, toxins and not protecting or respecting mother nature, our fragile ecosystem are we? Are we being good stewards? Hardly! I certainly have never voted for these GOP/Corporate goons, ever! Nuff said! Which brings me around to my point. We've all been here before, recently actually. Our grand parents and parents had it much worse what with World War I, Fascism, the Great Depression followed by World War II, more Fascism. They got through it, survived, reinvented themselves. They made it! We will too!
My own experience has taught me that you can not depend on, "Corporations" and even though my resume is littered with careers at Fortune 100 companies, IBM, Dunn & Bradstreet, Dell, Coldwell Banker, I have always fared better, thrived by reinventing myself after each job purge cycle, refining my survival technique and working toward financial independence. I had a family, kids to get through life, to educate, teach, inspire and raising a family from ones, "Boot straps" is a bitch! I did it by leveraging corporations. Many of you did too. We're survivors! So here's what I'm getting at! Here we are again. We're facing yet another recession. Jobs are going to be scarce. For we, "Vintage" folks it's gonna get a little bumpy, but compared to millennials and subsequent generations this portends a tectonic shift. Money is going to get tight because the billionaire class have stolen it all and they're not gonna' share it and neither will they pay their fair share. That trickle down idea was always a fake ideology and it has succeeded in bankrupting America! That ship has sailed. So let's get ready to rumble!! Who's with me? Anybody?
I'm not writing this for my edification. I'm putting this out there for all of my friends and followers who are feeling financially exposed because we're gonna need to stick together and support each other or perish. If you have not reinvented yourself prior to this collapse, you are going to have to dig deep and prepare to get it done now! We're all going to have to adjust our lifestyles and our priorities. In any case, I believe reinventing ones self starts with having a passion. I believe that everybody has one. Whatever it is, whether it's music, writing, blogging, painting, connecting, whatever it is, we're going to have to invest in that passion and make it our number one priority. We're gonna have to put it out there, expose it to the masses and then sell it! It's not easy, but we can do it and guess what? The good news is we get to own it! It will be ours and that's how it starts! A wave of confidence, a light at the end of the tunnel. And then, we ride that wave!
We're also gonna' have to embrace being independent contractors and figure out second and third sources of income to make ends meet. Maybe from a business that we can apply ourselves to that does not require that we work for salary, but earn money independent of hegemony, by commission, consulting, value add. Experience has value and we're, "Experienced". These two priorities will help define our mutual success in reinventing ourselves. That, and with a little help from our friends, some sweat equity and choosing wisely, we will it, and we make it happen. You got this!! I got this!!
In closing, I wish you all the best of luck!! We're all in this thing called life together!! One big ancestry of family all the way back to Neanderthal roots and only the strong and creative will survive this next recession I'm afraid.
So, I'm here for you, to bounce ideas. I am here to support you in your reinvention endeavor. I'm gonna be reaching out to you too when I want to bounce ideas. Thanks for listening to my ramble. Good luck!
